Featured Friend | Young Living's Jennifer

If you've not heard of 'oils' being used in households you may be living under a rock, kidding. But really I feel as though a lot of people I know are experiencing the power of essential oils and personally I love the idea of more natural products being used in our home & for our sweet baby/ my family. We've used oils in our house for everything from a teething baby to joint pain and diffusing for joy! My sweet friend Jennifer is an oil genius and has a wealth of knowledge in regards to keeping your house and family healthy with all natural products. She's sharing a testimony AND a recipe with yall today, thank you Jennifer! "Quality sleep has been a struggle for me for many years and I have always taken something to help me rest. That is until I began using Young Living Essential Oils to help me relax and get some good ole ZZZ’s. My new evening routine begins by starting my diffuser about 15 minutes before I turn in. My favorites to diffuse are Cedarwood or Peace and Calming blend. Then I rub Cedarwood on my scalp and the back of my neck and Valerian on the bottoms of my feet. This has made a huge difference in my quality of rest. My new routine has helped me doze off and stay in a deep slumber through the night and wake up feeling refreshed and ready to tackle the day. For more information please visit my website and blog at . " -Jennifer Ebinger Bug Repellant Fill a 4oz botttle with half distilled water / half witch hazel Add 1/4 tsp vegetable glycerin (optional, good for absorption & moisture) Add: 10 drops of purification 5 drops of theives 5 drops of lavender 5 drops of peppermint Shake before each use. - Thank you Jennifer for sharing your story AND this bug spray recipe! Side note: Some people are not comfortable putting peppermint on children/ toddlers/ infants so this is please research for yourselves and do what you feel comfortable with. Jennifer has however made a bug spray without peppermint so check out her blog and maybe you can find alternatives from her!

Guest Post by Bit-A-Honey

My mom (Honey) over at Bit-A-Honey
(get it? Like the candy Bit-O-Honey)
shared her delicious recipe for Raw Chocolate Cheesecake!

This recipe is especially good if you have fresh fruit like strawberries or blueberries to add in every bite!

Here's the link to the original post:
Raw Chocolate Cheesecake
It is free of dairy, soy, gluten & processed sugars. And I think it tastes delicious.

by Bit-A-Honey's Tammy.

2 cups cashews, pieces
1/2 cup coconut oil, liquid
1 cup Agave
1/2 cup water
1 tsp vanilla
1/2 cup cocoa powder (unsweetened)
Soak cashews for about 10-15 minutes, then rinse well. Place cashews into a blender with agave, vanilla & water. Blend for a little bit to get it creamy. Next add cocoa & coconut oil. Blend until creamy. You may need to scrap the sides, just keep blending until it is nice & smooth. Pour contents of blender into a pie pan (or glass container, something about the size of a pie).

1/3 cup coconut oil, liquid
1 tsp vanilla
8 tsp Agave
4 tbsp cocoa powder (unsweetened)

Directions: Place all in a glass bowl or measuring cup, mix well and pour over the 'cake'.
Place in the fridge to cool.

As we cut a piece of the CAKE, we like to top the piece with fresh sliced strawberries or fresh fruit salad. This is how I have my 'chocolate covered strawberries' while on the cleanse.

Thanks Bit-A-Honey for sharing your delicious recipe!!

Have you seen those fitness watches? It seems like their is over a dozen different ones to chose from. I've had the Polar FT4, the Polar Loop and the Fitbit Charge HR.

I picked out the FT4 originally because I saw a lot of fitness people on instagram posting pictures of their calories burned while working out. So of course just having had a baby and getting back into the gym I really wanted one. At the time I thought I was having good workouts, after all a 9 month hiatus does bad things to one's health! I remember my first workout I was extremely disappointed, my calorie burn was so low and my heart rate never stayed in fat burn zone. The FT4 has a heart rate monitor belt that you wear around your breastbone. Your watch beeps if you fall below fat burn heart rate. I eventually came to love this feature, so I'd keep a jump rope with me while I did weights and if started beeping I'd jump rope in between sets. I loved this watch.

Pros: Pretty colors to chose from, beeping to help monitor heart rate levels and an easy to read watch.

Cons: There is no way to sync your watch, for instance our insurance gives us points for going to the gym or getting 10,000 steps a day but we need a watch that can sync to an app then to Humana.

Also I often would get to the gym and forget the HR belt, this may not be a problem for people who have all their stuff together but that wasn't me at the time.

After the Polar FT4 my husband bought me thr Polar Loop. A friend of mine had it and I loved how sleek it looked. This then became my favorite.

Pros: Sleek, adjustable wristband and it was smooth so I didn't worry about it snagging on my baby or hurting him if he fell asleep on my arm. I also LOVED that this had a goal display and it would fill up as you were active then do fireworks and say GOAL complete. Silly but I loved when I would reach my 'goal'!
You can sync to the computer and Humana. Also you can swim in the watch, not the HR belt.

Cons: You can only adjust the wristband once. You cut the band to fit your arm and that's that. Also the HR belt again, I couldn't remember it every trip.

The very last watch my husband bought me is the Fitbit Charge HR. My husband bought this because he needed a step tracker, he easily hits over 15k steps on days he works and 10k a day gets us points on insurance. Anyhow he has Garmin and it is great for his long bike rides but it doesn't track steps. When my husband got thr fitbit charge HR he really liked it and surprised me with one for my birthday this year!

This watch does it all!
It tracks steps, stairs, calories, heart rate and miles. It has a button you push to start a stopwatch and while it is running it tracks all the things I just mentioned. So if you just want to know how many calories you're burning while doing an activity,  turn it on and see! It tracks miles, again turn on the stop watch, run and then watch your distance add up.

Another great feature is the Fitbit app. The app gives you 'badges' for certain accomplishments such as so many lifetime miles,  climbing a certain amount of stairs etc.

On the app you can also add your friends and do a 'work week' step challenge,  a weekend challenge or a daily showdown challenge. Invite your friends and try to take the most steps! You can also track sleep and set a silent alarm so the watch vibrates on your arm to wake you up. Incase you can't tell this is my new favorite. My husband likes his also!

Pros: All of the above AND NO HR BELT. The watch itself monitors your heart rate on your wrist. You can sync it Bluetooth.

Cons: Not a fashion piece for some but for me I don't mind it!

I hope this helps anyone trying to decide on a watch!!

Pregnancy & Nursing

Untitled #5

Before I get started let me just throw this out there...I'm not a doctor , nurse or anything like that. All of this post is my opinion with a few facts about select products and all of the products were okay'd by my personal doctor.

When I became pregnant with my son I was a runner.
Ran races, ran for fun and ran a lot.
I stopped running while pregnant for a few reasons ... scared because it was my first pregnancy,  my doctor said not to get my heart rate over 130/140,
my feet were swollen and I was so tired.

While I was pregnant I used some Advocare products,
Advocare Rehydrate,
Advocare Meal Replacement Shakes,
Advocare Omegaplex
and Advocare Core plex with iron .
 I loved these products.

Rehydrate to stay hydrated which also helps the baby grow healthy.

Omegaplex helps with brain and eye development for the baby and my son has been a baby genius since day 1, I credit this to these vitamins.

Core plex with Iron because I was anemic.

Meal Replacement Shakes because sometimes I was hungry but needed safe, healthy protein.

Once my son was born he latched for 30mins each side, yall I know Rehydrate had a helping hand in these. I continued to take rehydrate daily sometimes several times a day while nursing for 15 months and Praise God I was able to exclusively nurse. I've had other friends swear by this for nursing and again because I knew it was SAFE I gave it a shot and stuck with it.

While I was nursing I took Rehydrate as mentioned above.

Advocare Catalyst to help protect lean muscle mass during weight loss and for an extra , safe boost in my workouts.

Advocare Spark, half a serving for energy and right after I nursed, once daily so he wouldn't get it. Plus Spark has over 28 vitamins and minerals.

Advocare Shakes , yummy and extra protein for baby and me.

Advocare Omegaplex to continue helping with development for my son.

These products have been game changers for myself and my son during my pregnancy and while nursing. If you'd like more information and details about the products listed let me know! If you're expecting or a new mom, congratulations and enjoy every minute!!

Featured Friend | So Chick! Melissa

Today I want to introduce yall to my sweet friend, Melissa!
Melissa is the owner and extremely talented lady behind
So Chick! Handbags and Embroidery..
I met Melissa while we lived in North Carolina, she's a doll. I received a sewing machine from my Mom as a gift and Melissa came over, taught me how to use it and shared two patterns with me.. all while running her own shop, So Chick!.

Here's a little more information on Melissa's shop:

I started SoChick! Handbags & Embroidery in 2009 as a part-time venture, from my dining room table!  What started as a part-time handmade handbag & embroidery business has grown into a full-time personalized gift business.  At SoChick! you will find personalized gifts and accessories for "Everyday Chicks" and their little ones, from bridal and wedding gifts, to monogrammed bags, accessories and ladies apparel, to one-of-a-kind personalized items for baby and kids.  I strive to only carry quality products, offer a personal approach to customer service, and make custom ordering a fun and friendly experience.  I love being able to add personal touches to items that will be gifted with love and provide lasting memories, as much as I love monogramming accessories which are on trend and live up to the "monogram everything" mantra!  At SoChick! I like to say we're "Everyday chic for everyday chicks!", because monograms are timeless and you can wear a monogram for any occasion!

Very recently Melissa added racerback tank tops to her shop, I fell in love as soon as I saw her in hers & before I know it I received one in the mail along with a COUPON code for my readers!

But before I share that code let me tell yall about this tank...
first off I couldn't decide on a color,
I wanted them all so I asked my husband to pick!
He picked Kelly Green and I chose the white thread.

I had no idea how SOFT this tank was going to be.. it's the softest shirt//tank top that I own and I'm obsessed already.

I love that purchasing from So Chick! not only helps a Momma work from home, but it goes to a small family owned business (& a sweet lady!).

Last but not least,
every girl needs something or several things monogrammed!

Stop by Melissa's shop,
order a tank top
and use this code she's sharing with my readers:

to enjoy 20% off your order.

Thank you Melissa for this awesome tank top and coupon code!

Everyone should own a little black dress and this one was gifted to me by my Mom.
I love that it's light, flowy, came with a belt (not pictured) and has an 'aztec' cut out print on the whole thing over a silky material.

For the jewelry part of this outfit I kept it super simple, sometimes less is enjoy this layered, turquoise necklace from Premier, It's such a bold, beautiful, versatile piece.
